ROCKFORD, IL January 13, 2010– Rockford’s newest baseball team officially announced today that it’s team will be named the Rockford Foresters. The name, which was submitted as part of a name the team competition that was conducted in November 2009, features a lumberjack mascot and sports the main colors green, white, gray and black.
“Not only was selecting a name for the team hard, but also all the logos to be associated with the team,” said Majority Owner and President Joe Stefani. “Countless hours were spent by staff, other members of the organization and numerous individuals outside of the organization. We feel that the Rockford Foresters name and logo represents Rockford being known as the “forest city” and it also represents the fighting spirit that many of the citizens of Rockford have and have shown during these tough economic times.”
